What we collect

• Email address — when you create an account, used only to sign you in and send a one-time confirmation email.
• Saved daycares — which daycare listings you have marked as Interested.
• Notes — text you write and attach to saved daycares. Visible only to you.
• Reports — corrections you submit about a listing. Reviewed by us to improve data accuracy.
• Session cookie — a functional cookie that keeps you signed in.

How we use it

• To provide and operate the FirstDrop service.
• To improve the accuracy of daycare listing data based on your reports.
• We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising.

Where data is stored

Authentication is handled by Supabase (supabase.com). Your account email is stored on their servers. Your saved daycares, notes, and reports are stored in our own database. Both are hosted in Canada or the United States.

Optional usage analytics

When enabled, we use PostHog to understand whether people find daycares and use their shortlist. We record page categories, broad directory filters, result counts, contact-link clicks, saves, status changes, and whether a note or follow-up was added. We do not send note text, emails, child information, deposit amounts, search text, or full page addresses to analytics. We do not record your screen or automatically track every click.

A random browser identifier is stored in local storage. When you sign in, it is linked to your internal account ID so we can count returning users. We may record recognized campaign tags to understand how people find us. Analytics data is processed by PostHog in the United States or European Union, depending on our project region.

You can turn off usage analytics for this browser. We remember that choice in a cookie for one year; it does not affect your account or the features you can use. This choice does not delete previously collected data. Contact us to request deletion.

Daycare data

Daycare listings are sourced from Ontario's licensed childcare registry, published by the Ministry of Education. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of this data. Confirm all details directly with the daycare provider.

Your rights (PIPEDA)

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at hello@firstdrop.ca.
